Meet the Creator: Terry Stagg

Linksqrcode.com was founded and developed by Terry Stagg. As a physicist by training and with over 27 years of experience as a Director of Information Systems based in Wichita Falls, Texas, Terry has spent his career at the intersection of complex data, scientific rigor, and user-centric solutions. Under his leadership, the platform was envisioned to strip away corporate bloat and focus on what truly matters: the user's need for a reliable, secure connection.

Terry designed this platform to solve a common problem: QR codes are often functional but visually unappealing. By leveraging modern web technologies like qr-code-styling and TailwindCSS, he's created a suite of tools that allows users to generate Photo QR codes and Artistic Halftone effects without sacrificing security or scannability.

"I built this because most free tools track your clicks. This tool tracks nothing."

The main reason for developing this tool was Terry's own frustration with the current landscape of QR generators. He found that most "free" tools were anything but—they often required users to sign up for accounts, surrender personal data, or pay recurring monthly fees just to keep their links active, all governed by tracking algorithms on foreign servers. Terry set out to create a 100% free, browser-based alternative based right here in Texas that honors privacy and simplicity.

The Technical Vision

The motivation behind this project was twofold. First, there was a technical challenge: could a high-performance, feature-rich QR generator run entirely on the client side? By leveraging the power of modern JavaScript and the qr-code-styling library, Terry proved that expensive server-side processing wasn't just unnecessary—it was a privacy risk. Building the tool to run in the browser ensures that your data never has to travel across the wire just to be turned into an image.

Second, there was an artistic vision. Most QR codes are viewed as a necessary evil—a clunky black square that ruins a clean design. Terry wanted to change that perception. By implementing halftone effects and image-based QR matrices, he transformed the QR code into a design asset. This artistic approach allows brands to maintain their aesthetic integrity while still providing the functional utility of a scanable link.
